Act deliberately to help children cope with divorce

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Divorce on Saturday, February 4, 2012. Divorce can happen. It can happen to couples who have been married for more than 20 years, and it can happen to those who said “I do” just a few years ago. And while in most cases spouses know that separating is the best thing for them to do, in relationships where there are children, many parents tend to worry about how the children will be affected by the divorce. If you are a parent who is either going through a divorce, or was recently divorced, rest assured knowing that

Father hopeful that child custody battle will turn in his favor

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Fathers’ Rights on Thursday, February 2, 2012. For many men, the day they found out they were going to be a dad, was one of the happiest days of their life. Sadly, this joy can quickly turn to sorrow when the mother of the child purposely takes steps to take the biological father out of the picture. One father, who knows this first hand, is distraught over the fact that he has only gotten the chance to see his daughter once in four years. This lack of visitation is due to the fact that the mother of

UPDATE: Child support case dismissed against Jimmy King

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Child Support on Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Back in August we wrote a post when well-known basketball player Jimmy King was arrested for failing to pay child support. On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Divorce on Saturday, January 28, 2012. Every year since their marriage in 2005, musician Seal and his model and TV show host wife Heidi Klum would make the romantic gesture to renew their vows. For many, this was a sign of true love and a celebrity couple that was destined to make it. However, like many couples, the two recently released a statement that they will be filing for divorce. One source, who was also close to recently split up Marc Antony and Jennifer Lopez, said the two celebrity couples shared a common trait: either being constantly

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Child Support on Thursday, January 26, 2012. Failing to pay child support can lead to a number of legal problems. And now, a new website launched by the Office of Inspector General is working to try and catch those parents who have skipped out on making those payments. According to the federal agency, which is a part of the Department of Health and Human Services, the purpose of the website is to get the public involved in helping to track down those parents who are seriously behind on child support by posting information about them, and photos.

Why some couples choose legal separation

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Divorce on Friday, January 20, 2012. Sometimes married couples who are splitting up decide to go the route of legal separation instead of divorce. In some cases, this is to give each spouse time to think about next steps, but in others it is a more long-term arrangement that can have both good and bad ramifications. Many couples choose legal separation instead of divorce for financial reasons. For example, maybe running two separate households is just not feasible right now, so the husband and wife decide to live separately, but under the same roof. Of course there
