Lack of support for job-related stress can lead to divorce

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Divorce on Friday, February 24, 2012. It should come as no surprise, but marriages where spouses do not have emotional support for each other are more likely to end in divorce. And, with more spouses now both having careers and working outside of the home, not having support at home to combat daily office stressors can quickly deteriorate a marriage. A recent university study looked at 400 working couples and asked them questions related to their marriages and level of stress. From there it was confirmed that while spouses experiencing work-related stress is normal in marriages,

More children born to unwed parents

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Fathers’ Rights on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Over the past five decades there has been a steady increase in the number of children born to unwed parents. In fact, nowadays, more than half of the children who are born to women under the age of 30 are also born to parents who are not married. And while there are several theories on this cultural shift, the fact remains that without proper precautions, unmarried men can end up losing their rights as parents more easily than those who are married. According to data from the National Center for

More baby boomers filing for divorce

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Divorce on Friday, February 17, 2012. It used to be quite rare to see people who were in their 60s file for divorce. However, it seems there has been a shift, as baby boomers are now filing for divorce at twice the rate of 20 years ago. According to the National Center for Family and Marriage, in 1990 only one in every 10 divorces was a baby boomer couple. Now, that demographic makes up one in every four. Additionally, an AARP survey found that in 2004, 66 percent of those divorces were actually started by the wives.

Father who is out of work jailed for not paying child support

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Child Support on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. A 31-year-old father was recently released from jail for failing to pay child support. He is supposedly $50,000 behind on payments, and will be sentenced in early April for failure to support or maintain a child. In this case, while the man has already pleaded guilty, he said upon release that he would find a job within the next day or two. Half of his net income will then be turned over to pay back child support for his 11-year-old daughter. As long as he complies with the court orders, the

Missouri father’s eight year long custody battle continues on

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Child Custody on Thursday, February 9, 2012. For the past eight years a Missouri father has been fighting for custody of his now 10-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son. As of now, even though a doctor has recommended that the children live with their father due to what looks like emotional neglect, it appears that conflicts of interest have been real barriers between the father and the courts. In this child custody case, not only has the daughter made two abuse accusations about a family member living with her mother, but the son may also be suffering from

Is your ex-wife using the kids against you in divorce?

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Divorce on Monday, February 6, 2012. A father who is going through a contentious child custody battle recently shared his story. Right now, while trying to obtain custodial rights, his ex-wife is also trying to up his child support payments. He claims that she’s even gone as far as to file a false child abuse report in order to try and get the upper hand in court. Along with having to defend himself against these false allegations, he is also struggling as his ex-wife is reportedly using the couple’s son against him. As of now, his son
