Disagreements over child custody arrangements can be contentious

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Child Custody on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Divorce can become quite complicated and contentious when children are involved and both parents disagree on child custody matters. Many times this can lead to each parent making false accusations against the other in order to try and paint themselves in a more positive light. Recently, suspended Saints coach Sean Payton and his wife each filed their own divorce petitions. The two were married for close to 20 years and each are seeking different child custody arrangements. Payton claims “discord or conflict of personalities” as the reason for the divorce.

How to successfully co-parent in Missouri

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Divorce on Saturday, July 7, 2012. When it comes to divorced parenting, nowadays more and more Missouri fathers are participating in co-parenting with their ex-wives. And while this is certainly greats news for children and dads alike, fathers and mothers both need to be cognizant of the “co” part of “co-parenting.” Co-parenting literally means together and mutual parenting. Of course, for many this can be hard as divorced spouses don’t always see eye to eye on what is best. However, to make the divorce transition easier on the children, it’s important to follow the five C’s: Coordinate: A

Usher talks about fatherhood during his fight for child custody

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Fathers’ Rights on Thursday, July 5, 2012. Fathers play an important role in a child’s life. Fatherhood is more than just being a caregiver to make sure that a child has the necessities in life, along with love and support, but is also about being a positive adult male role model. Sadly, sometimes during a bitter divorce or break up, not all mothers are always as cognizant of the importance of a father playing a role in a child’s life — or they have their own agendas — which means many fathers find themselves in

Ex-husband claims wife hid $1 million in assets during divorce

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Divorce on Thursday, June 28, 2012. When going through a divorce in Missouri, it is not only unethical, but it is also illegal to hide assets. And while most would like to think this is not something they would even need to worry about, the truth is that during divorce — particularly in high-asset divorces — it is more common than one would think. Right now, wealthy hedge-fund boss, Daniel Shak is claiming his ex-wife, who is professional poker player Beth Shak, hid roughly 1,200 pairs of designer shoes from him in their divorce three years ago.

Baby boomer couple went through collaborative divorce

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Divorce on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. With people living longer with higher expectations for what a good marriage really is, more and more baby boomers are filing for divorce. In fact, according to a study that was done by Bowling Green State University, in the last 20 years the divorce rate for couples over the age of 50 has doubled. In 1990 less than one in 10 who were divorced were 50 or older. Now, out of every 10 who are divorced, four are age 50 or older. One couple, who filed for divorce after 37 years

Divorce: Are the children adapting?

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Divorce on Friday, June 22, 2012. Parents end up filing for divorce all the time. They realize their relationship just isn’t working out and decide that it’d be better to both raise their children – just not while still married and living in the same home. In many cases, after years of fighting, infidelity and other marital issues, divorce is actually even welcoming. However, when it comes to children, it’s important to make sure that both parents — even though they are divorced — work together as a team to raise their children and keep their eyes
