Judge says no procreation for father who owes child support

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Child Support on Thursday, December 6, 2012. A father who owes $50,000 in child support and $40,000 in interest was recently ordered to no longer procreate until he can prove that he can provide financial assistance for his children. Naturally, this ruling raises several questions and concerns, such as is this fair to fathers and if this is even enforceable? The case involves a 44-year-old father of nine. The father pleaded no contest in October to failure to pay child support and felony bail jumping. Of the six women he has children with, it was not reported

Update: Justin Beiber’s paternity results not yet submitted

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Fathers’ Rights on Friday, November 30, 2012. It was a little more than a year ago that we about the importance of a DNA paternity test to determine who the father of a then-newborn was. The mother was claiming that father was famed pop star Justin Bieber, a claim the 18-year-old adamantly denied. After the scandal broke, Bieber also took to the talk show “The View” to insist he had taken a DNA paternity test to prove he was not the father. Since then, while most of the heat and gossip around the scandal has cooled off,

Is your spouse hiding assets in the divorce?

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Divorce on Wednesday, November 28, 2012. When going through a divorce, it is not an option to disclose all assets. Rather, it’s a legal requirement. There are a number of ways a spouse can attempt to hide assets, like understating marital property, overstating debts, reporting higher expenses or reporting a lower income. Granted, in some cases failure to disclose can be an overlooked

Stone and Bialik were married for nine years and have two children. Both are very involved with being parents to their two boys. The announcement was made the day before Thanksgiving. The news was posted on Bialik’s website where she claims the two are deciding to divorce due to the often cited reason of “irreconcilable differences.” Considering the fact that each are very involved with attachment parenting, the hope is that Stone continues to

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Divorce on Tuesday, November 20, 2012. With Thanksgiving just days away it’s officially that time of year again: the holidays. And while the holidays can be stressful enough for anyone — with all the planning, spending and celebrating — it can be even harder for parents who are recently separated. Whether separated or recently divorced, the holidays can be a constant reminder of the ways things used to be. However, this does not mean the holidays need to be ruined from here on out. Rather, keep the following tips in mind to ensure a peaceful

Prenatal tests to determine paternity

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Fathers’ Rights on Friday, November 16, 2012. Fathers incorrectly assume that if their name is on a child’s birth certificate, their rights as a parent are automatically established. However, this could not be farther from the truth. In fact, without first properly establishing paternity, a father could end up actually finding himself in a tricky situation where he must pay child support, but still has no visitation schedule or decision-making rights as a parent. So just what is a father to do? The No. 1 thing is to establish paternity. In cases where the baby
