Collaborative divorce can be less stressful

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Divorce on Thursday, September 29, 2011. When many people get married they don’t think that divorce may also come later on down the road. But with the U.S. Census reporting that in 2009 there were 9.7 divorces for every 1,000 women and 9.2 divorces for every 1,000 men, the truth is that divorce is a process that ends up affecting many Missouri residents. And while the decision to divorce in many marriages is the right thing to do, it’s important to look into what legal options are available — especially for small business owners — to ensure

Child custody relocation requests rise with economic pressures

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Child Custody on Tuesday, September 27, 2011. For some spouses divorce and child custody agreements can be hard to reach. However, with the current economic climate and more parents financially struggling, many are finding the situations to be even more trying as more are filing relocation requests. According to a survey of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, in the past three years 85 percent have seen complications arise in reaching a divorce settlement due to some kind of housing debt. Additionally 53 percent reported seeing an increase in the number of child custody cases that involve

Temporary alimony decided, but McCourt saga continues on

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Divorce on Thursday, September 22, 2011. A temporary alimony agreement was recently reached between Frank McCourt and his ex-wife Jamie McCourt. However, the couple is still in a contentious battle over who has ownership of the Dodgers baseball team. As of now Frank McCourt will continue to pay his ex-wife $225,000 a month in spousal support, but he will no longer have to pay out-of-pocket an additional $412,159 a month that he was previously paying for six mortgages. Instead, the money for those mortgages will come out of a $1.1 million escrow account, which was created by the

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Divorce on Tuesday, September 20, 2011. In November of 2009 “Real Housewives of D.C.” star Michaele Salahi and her husband Tareq Salahi became almost instantly famous when the two were photographed with the president at a White House state dinner that they attended without invitation. However, now it seems the couple’s relationship will also be remembered for the reason behind their divorce filing: Michaele Salahi had been having an affair with Journey guitarist Neal Schon. The story broke last Tuesday when Michaele Salahi did not return home on Tuesday. At the time her husband worried that she

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Visitation on Saturday, September 17, 2011. As we discussed in the last post, divorce can be hard on all members of a family, even grandparents. This is especially true when grandparents feel pushed away or left out following the divorce of their children. A recent article in The Huffington Post provided some tips for grandparents who are experiencing this phenomenon. Here is some of the advice: Accept that things will not be the same as they were in the past. With the divorce will come changes and clinging to “the way things were” will only make

Grandparents who are left out after a divorce: Part one

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Visitation on Thursday, September 15, 2011. It’s a sad reality, but sometimes divorce can be just as hard on grandparents in Missouri as it is on the rest of the family. As a recent article in The Huffington Post reported, it is quite common for grandparents to feel pushed away or alienated from their grandchildren after the children’s parents go through a divorce. The article said that this phenomenon can be attributed to a few factors such as the children be torn about whose side to take or the children hearing one of their parents blame a
