Parents are responsible for ensuring the emotional and physical well-being of any children in their care. In some situations, the best interests of the child means that legal custody must be given to a Missouri adult who will provide the care that a parent may not be able to provide. Regardless of the circumstances, providing a safe and nurturing environment for the child is the goal of child custody cases.
According to a recent report, two boys were found in an enclosed area of a moving truck. The boys were reportedly found in the enclosed area with an adult, while the truck’s front cab was occupied by two other adults. All of the adults in the truck were arrested, and the report states that charges are pending.
The children in question were supposedly kidnapped by their parents from a southern state before they were found in Southeast Missouri. The children’s grandmother has legal custody of them. The report also states that the children were found after the moving truck was pulled over by police.
Determining the person who will properly care for children is an important step in any Missouri child custody case. In some cases, it has been determined that certain parties are not able to provide an appropriate environment for the child. The person who is granted legal custody of a child, like the grandmother in this report, is responsible for the welfare of the child placed in their care. In situations where the safety and well-being of the child are in question, it is important to understand that there are legal options available to ensure that children receive the care they need and deserve.
